Pediatric Advanced Life Support is a great skill to have – and so important you have to get recertified regularly. Now recertification is easier than ever!

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is a discipline of skills and procedures that are aimed at providing care for children in emergency situations. Most practices and hospitals require a certain percentage of their staff to be PALS trained and certified. Beyond that, once an individual has become PALS certified, they must be re-certified every two years to keep their certificate up to date.

It used to be that the only way to get PALS certified was to sit in a classroom and listen to an instructor for two days. The problem with that was, and still is, that it is very time consuming, more expensive than it needs to be, and the courses are often monotonous. This puts a burden on many professionals who simply can’t find time to make it to a set class.

The good news is that there is an option. Recertification is now available online which makes the process much less burdensome than it has been in the past. Let’s look at a few advantages of online PALS recertification.

Work At Your Own Pace
Not everyone absorbs information at the same rate. For some students, a two day course is far longer than they need. For others, it may not be enough. Either way, the rigid schedule an in-person class has leaves no flexibility for this. Online, each student is allowed to go as fast or slow as they need to, studying in a manner that is best for them, with no pressure.

Less Repetitive and Monotonous
Unfortunately, instructor led courses are often boring, particularly when it is a recertification course. Once a person has already passed a course, it can be safely surmised that they have a strong grasp of the course content. If a person is confident enough with their knowledge and feels they can pass the recertification exam with little or no refreshing should be able to take the exam without waiting. Recertifying online allows that.

Set Your Own Schedule
Personal time is precious. No one wants to spend what little free time they have tied up going to and from recertification classes they may not even really need in order to pass their exam. Doing so may even require a major reshuffling of their schedule. Online, any time of day or night, class can begin slotted in. You make the call, and work when you want for as long or short as you want.

Saves Time
How much time do you have for a recertification course? Since the American Heart Association lists their course as taking 14 hours and 10 minutes, it’s a valid question. Especially when you add in breaks and lunch – each day of the course becomes longer. Don’t forget travel time on top of that. Why spend all that time when it can be done online in a couple hours?

Saves Money
Depending where you go online, PALS recertification courses come with a variety of price tags. With that said, most will still be cheaper than any instructor led class you can find. Look for a course that adheres to AHA standards and offers a 100% money back guarantee should problems arise during the course.

Getting your PALS renewal should not be burdensome or stressful. You already have a hectic schedule and don’t need more aggravation. Explore doing your PALS recertification online at your own pace in the comfort of your own home, and we are confident you will see it is the best choice for you.
